Learning new words is one of the most important steps to becoming fluent in any language. The Vocabulary learning features in Heylama helps you find, learn, and remember new words — all in one place.
🌱 Why Vocabulary Is Important
The more words you know, the easier it is to speak, read, and understand a language.
Heylama helps you build your vocabulary step by step using smart tools that make learning faster and easier.
🔍 How You Get New Words
You can get new words in three ways:
1. When You Chat with Anka
Every time you chat with Anka, Heylama looks at your answers and finds words you don’t use yet but should know for your level.
These are called vocabulary gaps.
You’ll see these words in your daily to-do list as suggestions.
You can choose to learn them or skip them if you already know them.
2. From Lessons and Exercises
Sometimes, your AI Lessons will introduce new themed words (like “travel,” “food,” or “work”).
These are added to your list automatically.
3. Add Your Own Words
You can also bring your own words from other classes or tools.
Two easy ways:
Add manually: Go to the Vocabulary Tab, tap the “+” button, and write the word, its meaning, and an example sentence.
(If you don’t have an example, Heylama can make one for you!)Ask Anka: Just say:
“Anka, add these words to my list.”
Anka will add them with the meaning, pronunciation, and example sentence.
📝 What does the vocabulary tab do?
Vocabulary tab shows the overview of all of your saved words and their progress. It's not a practice tab - it's just a list of all words you have saved. This is simply to help you keep track of your vocabulary.
Our practice experience is described below.
🧠 How Practice Works
Heylama uses a smart learning method called spaced repetition.
This means the app shows you each word right before you’re likely to forget it — so you remember it for longer.
Every word has its own review schedule - this means that the system knows exactly when you need to review it next time. This saves you time and ensures you review it at the perfect time!
You’ll see a Practice task in your daily to-do list when it’s time to review.
When you remember a word, its percentage goes up.
Once you remember it many times, the word becomes Mastered — you’ve learned it!
You can also open the Practice section anytime from the Vocabulary Tab.
📊 What the Percentages Mean
Each word in your list has a percentage number — this shows how well you know it:
Percentage | What It Means |
0–40% | You’re still learning this word |
50–80% | You’re getting better at remembering it |
90–100% | You’ve mastered it — great job! |
